Northumberland County Public Schools and Section 504
The Northumberland County Public Schools have procedures in place in order to identify individuals who meet the criteria for 504. For more information, contact your child’s school counselor or Dr. Jamie Blake at the Northumberland County School Board office.
A qualified person under Section 504 covers a broader population than the definition of a child with a disability under IDEA (special education). A qualified individual under Section 504 is any person who meets one or more of the following criteria:
♦ Has a physical or mental impairment that substantially limits one or more major life activities.
♦ Has a record of such an impairment.
♦ Is regarded as having such an impairment.
