School Psychologist

Hello My Name Is...

Amanda Schimmoller

I was born in Washington state, but grew up in mostly Colorado and Ohio (moving due to my mom's Air Force career). I graduated from Ohio University with undergraduate degrees in Psychology and Spanish. I then attended The Chicago School of Professional Psychology, graduating with my Education Specialist (Ed.S.) degree in School Psychology. After completing graduate school in Chicago, I moved to Milwaukee, Wisconsin for work. I worked in Milwaukee city schools for two years as a School Psychologist serving in mainly Spanish-speaking schools, before deciding city-life wasn't for me and that I was looking for a little warmer climate. With grandparents and cousins all up and down the East Coast, and my parents now in Alexandria, VA for my mom's work, it made sense to move out here.  I was lucky to find Northumberland County and immediately fell in love with the area. I am enjoying getting to know the community, meeting new people, and exploring the area by kayaking and fishing by my house on Cubitt Creek.  In my free time outside of work, I am an avid reader, love painting and crafts, and spending time with my two cats. I'm looking forward to finding a home here in NCPS and hope to be part of this community for a very long time!
